On admission and after delivery, every attempt will be made to accommodate you in the type of room you prefer; however, this may not always be possible. Although patients may request a private room, any specific room assignment is subject to availability. A number of factors determine each patient’s room assignment, in particular the number of beds available and the need for some patients to receive special medical care. Single rooms will only be considered following delivery.

The Royal and VIP Services Team Leader is usually responsible for the allocation of Orchid suites. The Obstetric Services Coordinator and the Ward Senior Charge Midwife are responsible for the allocation of single rooms, if available. Specific care is provided on certain wards and therefore patients must be accommodated on those wards. Patients with specific care needs will be cared for in an environment specific to those needs.
